The Design:
Hitler hasn’t taken power yet, the rise of fascism has just begun, Germany is in disarray, and Agnes Eggling is caught in the middle of it.
Using the upbeat jazz music of the time, the characters navigated their ever changing lives while the world seemingly went on around them. The radio played underneath scenes as parties went on, lovers met each other in the middle, and hard decisions were made. Each transition was marked with the music of the very people Germany was trying to get rid of.
While projections showed the horrific photos of the events of pre-WW2 Germany, sound captured audio clips, interviews, and speeches of the time. Non-Earthly creatures were greeted with eerie tones and sounds. Interruptions from a character 50 years in the future were underscored by the new wave music of the time, supporting her conspiracy theories and connections from the past to the present and the future.
